Nilah Monnier, MPhil

Ms. Monnier is currently a Ph.D. student in the Biophysics program at Harvard University, where she is studying actin-dependent intracellular transport using quantitative image analysis. During her M.Phil. in Chemistry at the University of Cambridge and B.A. in Biochemistry at Harvard, she studied virus structure and composition using X-ray crystallography and fluorescence imaging. She has also worked as an intern at the National Academy of Sciences and at the journal Science.

Ms. Monnier was the first Director of Research at the Jain Foundation from 2006-7. In that role she helped shape the strategy and scope of the foundation's research funding efforts, recruited many scientists into the dysferlin field, and organized the scientific program of the first Dysferlin Conference in 2007. She now serves as a consultant to the Jain Foundation Scientific Advisory Board and provides advice primarily on projects related to structural biology and biophysics.
