Past Projects

Objective:
Test new dysferlin antibodies on animal models and human biopsies

This project is evaluating new antibodies (produced by Epitomics) against dysferlin on human and mouse biopsies. The Epitomics antibodies are generated in rabbits, facilitating their use in both mouse and human. Many patients’ biopsies are part of the Muscle Repository maintained as part of the Iowa Wellstone MDCRC. This Repository serves as a resource of tissue for studies such as antibody testing. In addition to testing on the human biopsy Repository, the new antibodies are being evaluated on several mouse models of dysferlinopathy, including dysf-/-, SJL/J, and A/J mice. Testing is being carried out by both immunofluorescence and western blotting methods.
