Cell Lines: C2C12 dysferlin knockdown cells
This line is a clone of the common C2C12 myoblast cell line that has been transfected with a plasmid expressing a shRNA that targets dysferlin. The result is a line that has approx 10% of normal dysferlin levels. The line was developed by Dr. Robert Brown and Michele Maxwell.

This cell line must be continually grown under antibiotic selection, or the cells can revert to normal levels of dysferlin expression. Dr. Bashir has isolated individual clones from the original line that have minimal (approximately 10%) dysferlin expression.
